Default Advice on Wireless adaptor for desktop

    Hey,

can you recommend a wireless adaptor for desktop? Preferably it should be PCI or PCIe, but most importantly it should have out of the box Linux support.

In the end I went for a TP-Link TL-WN851ND card. It's based on Atheros 9227 chipset and should work out of the box on Linux.

Never had issues with TP-Link devices. Hell, they even have a GNU license print-out sheet on all retail devices.

The card arrived and it works like a charm. Right from the first boot after mounting it, the card was properly detected and I could connect to my wifi network without doing any extra configurations.
