  • How to get open source radeon for HD 4000 series?

Hi everybody My first post here but I am a reader of phoronix for few months.

Recently I have been reading this

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

And I am interesting in trying it out for my mobile HD 4000 something (I can't remember the exact model number)

And the article links to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archive...ry/052969.html

But I not sure how to apply the driver and the kernel patch? (I do have some knowledge of kernel but not to that extend)

    Can anyone help me please?

    Thank you

Well, we need more info to help you.
What distro are you using, and what card, exactly?
        run these commands:
        Code:
        lspci | grep VGA
        lsb_release -dr
        glxinfo | grep version
        Xorg -version

          Legacy driver.

It probably won't work nicely with newer X.Org. It works well enough with Debian Wheezy.

Don't worry I got the solution from http://phoronix.com/forums/showthrea...-driver-report

            Thanks for your help anyway
