Ubuntu Hardy packages available for testing.

I filed a bug against Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) asking for fglrx to be updated.

      Bug:

      Packages for testing:

Please test the packages Timo Aaltonen put together and report results on the thread for #218345.

If there are any regressions please report them so we don't break hardy with this last minute change.

              I think this
On an up-to-date Hardy install, when I enable the FGLRX driver using the restricted drivers manager and reboot, either X or FGLRX cause an excessive number of hardware interrupts on my system whenever it's the active console: jb2@loki:~$ vmstat 1 procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 4 0 0 572108 10032 227532 0 0 155 30 22797 126 95 3 1 1 1 0 0 5...

bug is the one I'am experiencing (i'am currently not at home). To be clear: This driver is for me the most bad one ever!! So, better revert to one from before the AIGLX period..

This latest release (8.4) seems the best, for my system, since a long time.........
The 2D slow performance of the 8.3 release, which was the thing most annoyed me, seems to be just fixed.....

I use a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop with an ATI X1400, with an updated Kubuntu 7.10, and don't use compiz or other composite managers.

8.4, as 8.3 did, works well for me (Mobility HD2600 with 512MB), but....

...since a release i don't remember, it detects just 128MB of dedicated ram! and the Xorg.0.log says:

                  (**) fglrx(0): VideoRAM: 262144 kByte, Type: DDR2

and then the Catalyst Control Center shows 128MB... what the heck!?

i can sure you that i have 512MB of dedicated ram!!
