I have a notebook Compaq nc8430 and when i set the screen resolution to anything less then the max, the display is smaller than the screen. There is about an one inch black margin all around the display. I've updated the drivers and tried all different resolutions with no success. I had a projector hooked up to the computer before this happened but I've done this before and everything went fine.
