  • how to installe display driver on fc6

    hello friends.

    i have installed fadora core 6 for the first time.and also don't know much about linux.
    i have ATI radeon 9250(128mb) display card installe in my system.it was not giving me display. can any body tell me from where to download its driver and how to installe it. i have downloaded some driver from ATI site.
    fglrx_4_3_0-8.28.8-1.i386 and fglrx_6_8_0-8.28.8-1.i386 and fglrx64_4_3_0-8.28.8-1.x86_64
    use rpm -ivh fglr..... commond to installe it but unable to installe giving some masages asking for some thing "labexpat.so.1" etc. some thing like that.
    ok first tell me which one is the correct driver and 2nd how to installe it.

    Kiran,

    Your ATI Radeon 9250 has been removed from the mainline fglrx display drivers (as of 8.28.8). However, the open-source drivers should work great for that card. Thus the drivers are built-in to Fedora Core 6. Do you have a display yet? Otherwise, where are you loosing the display?

      hello sir
      thanks for replay. yea i think u r right my card is supported by fc6. but i didn't get display. as after booting it tries to give display the screen just become dark black. and after that just nothing happen i have to restart system.
      also when form sell( run level 3 init 3)mode i give cammand
      "startx"
      just a black screen appear.
      i have check my "hwconf" file and find this there

      so plez tell me wht the problem. and if u need some other file output plz tell me its whole path. because i don't know much about different file locations.

        It could possibly be something with detecting your EDID.

        What is the output of:

        cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE

              Have you tried uninstalling the fglrx driver and using the radeon driver?

                i done noting just try to install these
                fglrx_4_3_0-8.28.8-1.i386 and fglrx_6_8_0-8.28.8-1.i386 and fglrx64_4_3_0-8.28.8-1.x86_64
                by using
                rpm -ivh fglrx....
                but they were not installed they just give me different dependencies
                if u say i can reinstalled the whole o/s

                  AIGLX is not supported by the fglrx drivers at this time and should be disabled.
