    Phoronix: 5-Way Amazon EC2 Cloud Linux OS Benchmarks

    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4, Amazon Linux AMI 2013.09, Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS, Ubuntu 13.10, and SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 have been pitted against each other in Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and the Linux performance benchmark results are now available.

    No Fedora? We've been working hard to provide good-quality AMIs for Fedora in the last couple of releases. See for F19, and for F20 Beta RC5 (will be released as Beta next week).

    Considering that many people use EC2 to run web servers, it's a little strange to not see a web server in the benchmarks ;-). I guess that the small variations between distributions for the computational tasks have more to do with what the current load on the node (since an EC2 instance shares nodes with other EC2 instances) than with actual distribution differences.
