It doesn't help when a thread starts out with a post like this:
The speed at which Canonical is progressing in their quest for domination shows us what we already know but most won't admit: they are the de facto FOSS leaders. Apple derived Mac OS X from BSD, Ubuntu is derived from Linux. This is how it should be: a corporation takes what the open source guys do and creates a true OS under a strong leadership. That is what is missing in the Linux community. Luckily for the consumers there is Shuttleworth that will do what Jobs did with BSD, transform it into a real OS, not a kiddie joke. And just as Apple did a lot of things differently from BSD, so will Ubuntu diverge from Linux. It takes a real focus on the consumers to create an alternative to Windows. Good times ahead: Microsoft, Apple and Canonical, the new holy trinity.
