        Another important change for SDL 2.0 is that it's published under the zlib license. Under this more permissive license over GPLv2 in SDL 1.2 is that it allows for it to be statically linked within commercial closed-source games.
        This might as well be the end of "native" proprietary linux games. Until now many older proprietary games that had a "native" linux client could have been made to run on newer distributions just by deleting the bundled old versions of the libraries that they packed. Static linking of libraries will mean that the experience will always be better with the Windows binary ran through wine unless running the exact Ubuntu release that the binary was built on or the company bothers to rebuild it for newer releases.
