Once again, the 7950 doesn't perform well in comparison
to the older 6950 (sometimes even significantly slower).

As I said, this is really strange to me.
That architecture ships for more than 1.5 years.
Furthermore, it was said that it is way easier to write
optimised shader compilers for the GCN architecture.

This doesn't add up.

Indeed! 7850 ends the Radeon line up there!

I would like to see how the new Catalyst Beta OpenGL 4.3 driver performs with the GCN 7xxx cards and Steam benchmarks...

3) I really hope Radeon 4000 series and below will be supported better (on terms of performance in games) now that they have been abandoned from the closed drivers (thats a wish) and the open drivers are the only choice. Of course DPM was the most important feature missing but i can't stop dreaming a better optimization and why not a modern "settings GUI".

Radeon 4000 is supported by the R600 driver if I'm not mistaken. You should be able to get good performance with DPM + R600sb backend.

Both of you are wrong.

What you should be asking is why Larabel doesn't get the same treatment that the hundreds of Windows review sites do. They sen to have absolutely no trouble at all getting pre-launch date top end hardware, even limited production custom designed parts are given to them free of charge, while Larabel doesn't even seem to be able to get bargain basement parts sent to him.

Let me know when you've figured out why, you should already know my position on this.
