    sounds like a company aiming to get publicity on someone elses back
    nothing new

    if x264 devs start supporting it then ok, if not then f the bloody leeches

    as for the code, i dont see any cpu/platform specific optimizations
    but its still early

        How is VP9 at the moment, is it competitive with h264 yet? Might start using it if it's close and is well supported by ffmpeg.

          You seem out of the loop dude. VP9 is closer to H.265. It's quality-size ratio is way superior to H.264. VP9's specification is final and mobile hardware supporting it should be out to consumer market soon.

            from what i understand;
            the standards only talk about how it should be decoded, not about encoding
            and all of 'em (h264/5, vp8/9) are made a bit future proof in that theres more then one way of encoding stuff

            thats why x264 gives "better" videos compared to other encoders
            so il boast whatever the x264 guys/girls choose to follow as they have proven to know something about this
