Seriously, which major distro is going too? I'm bored of waiting.

If wayland is so advanced and so far along and prefect in every way, such that the angels cry in its presense, why are you distros not installing it and running their GUI environments in XWayland? (People who don't want to run like this can just uninstall wayland, install xorg)

So, very very very tired of waiting. Someone has to take the leap and do it. Let users break it and say what is and is not working.

Archlinux has wayland/weston 1.1. gtk is compiled with wayland backend. kde/kwin 4.11 beta in the testing repository can be experimentally run in wayland with minor modifications of the startkde script.

XWayland is not made for running whole desktops. Running a full X11-Desktop on top of Wayland -- just to be able to tell, that you are running Wayland -- makes no sense at all. It will only make things worse, performance and stability wise.

IF you want Wayland so badly, simply use Weston. It's packaged on many distributions. Otherwise wait a few more months and you'll get a native port of your favourite Desktop.

We already know that enough prices are missing that it would not be ready to be pushed on the users of a major distribution. Proprietary driver still do not have support, no major de has been adapted for it, xwayland has some issues and is not merged yet. Probably the first major distribution to use it will be fedora, but until all the pieces are in place your probably only going to find it in distributions meant for testing. Having everything run inside a xwayland window is of no benefit, and problematic as long as there isn't good driver coverage.

So the release number of a software depends on how many distro use it? This is new to me.
In any case I can answer to your question:
EFL
KDE (4.12 branch)
GNOME (3.10 branch)
Tizen IVI (3.0 branch) (announcement)
R-pi (next release branch)
and probably many others that don't bother to tell me if they use wayland or not.

All those releases will appear in the second half of this year, and *here* we are not speaking about an incredible stupid thing as a whole DE upon a compatibility layer, do you understand the difference? :-)
