Phoronix: Unity On XMir Performance For Nouveau Gallium3D

On Friday I delivered the first benchmarks of Ubuntu's Unity desktop running on XMir -- the X.Org Server compatibility layer for talking to the Mir Display Server. Those benchmarks showered there was noticeable performance overhead to running XMir with Intel's graphics driver. Later benchmarks showed XMir 2D performance was also negatively affected. In this article are benchmarks looking at the XMir performance with the Nouveau driver.

Is it possible to make some benchmarks with newer and more popular games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2? I remember a news post saying that these might come soon, what's the status on that?

Maybe the last comment should have been first in the article

      Last thing written was...

Canonical hasn't begun optimizing the performance of Mir -- and there will surely be some improvements, especially with composition bypass and other forthcoming features -- so at Phoronix we will be back with plenty more Mir performance benchmarks over the coming weeks and months.

Given the lightning rod MIR has become it might be good practice to put that statement 1st in any article written prior to the actual release in October?

      Just a thought.

Except that the first statement in the article already is:
