I heard some graphics card have 36, 48 and 64-bit bpp support too.

Can Linux use 30 bpp?
Can X.org use it? Can Wayland use it?

30bpp is sometimes used in photo/video editing, IIRC.

If you wish to use 30bpp you will need it supported from
- GPU
- compatible port on GPU: DP or HDMI
- Cable DP / HDMI
- Monitor with 10-bit colour support
- OS
- GPU driver
- And finally application support from editing or viewing software

And Gimp doesnt have 30bpp support
