Is this a problem of the license or the local law?

Just because BSDparts were used to assemble that zombie, doesn't mean that zombie can boot BSD.
Or can you watch BSD-hosted Netflix on BSD, eh?

Should have used GPL software, hehe.

As far as I understand SteamOS is based on Ubuntu which is based on Debian which is based on Linux which is licensed in GPLv2 and has parts that are BSD licensed. What is that you're trying to say?

        • why would anyone want to run SteamOS on a PS4 ?, it's better on a PC-type anyway, for many obvious reasons. If a game is available for PC, you're much better off with that, as long as your PC has the umph, and unfortunately Windoze... 'fer now.

naaa, the bsd-haters here just wanna use that as an excuse to hoist up their gpl'd crap here.

" sony should've gpl'd, Apple should have gpl'd, ... " -blah, blah, blah, whine whine and whine some more.

I realize Phoronix forum trolls are mostly BSD-Haters, in fact "everyone" outside knows it too.

Well, TOO BAD, suck it up, (so what?), Sony ps4 uses a (modified) FreeBSD-x86_64, now "Get Over It". Sony didn't cherry-pick BSD "only" just because of it's license.
....wishful gpl / schmeePL has nuthin' to to with this, neither SteamOS, other than your reasons to gripe some more against "anything" that even remotely smells like BSD.
