It's been over one year of waiting for Xonotic 1.0. The popular open-source game's 1.0 release still isn't here, but Xonotic 0.7 has been released this weekend. Xonotic 0.7 brings forward a lot of in-game updates, including a new QuakeC compiler...

Xonotic is so much fun. Excellent graphics, performance, music, art design. Easily the best Q3 style shooter imho.

Just curious, what's the advantage in staying with Q1 QC/qcc, instead of moving to Q3 QC/lcc?

Like we don't have to rewrite the whole gamecode from scratch? :P

              you got a paradox there
xon runs good enough on OSS drivers
"real games" from valve dont run at all
proprietary drivers run all games good (at least nvidia ones do)

              i play xon AND dota2
              so whats the problem ?

                -Foss is hardly ever DOA

-maybe you don't like it, but this is an update for the current userbase and is not linux only.

-you don't need the best drivers to play it.

I like the update and would like to see how much Foss games can push and optimize their current tech, till they decide is time to take on and optimize newer engines.

                Cheers.

QuakeC didn't change that much from version 1 to 3, so it wouldn't be a rewrite, more like a batch replace of some small parts.
