  • how does phoronix install xorg from git on ubuntu

I'm looking for advice on how to install xorg from freedesktop git on my ubuntu 13.04.

I've read lots of benchmark articles here about the newer versions of xorg on older ubuntus, so figure you guys have the procedure all debugged and optimized. Can you share the procedure with this reader?

If you have a script that does it all for you, could you share that too?

My specific desire hinges from the fact that I have a lenovo S10-3t laptop with a buggy touch screen which is just getting fixed at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56578 . When I try patching this to xorg-xserver-core from 13.04, it won't build and when I try building the whole version referenced here http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~whot/xs...d1acbe6.tar.gz, it fails due to dependencies. So, maybe the fastest way is the phoronix way. I expect they'll merge the patches into 1.15 branch soon, and then I'll use your method to install 1.15 branch on my netbook.

    TIA

I've also tried using jhbuild as detailed at xorg and building it in my home directory. But, when I launch it, it fails to find the synaptics driver or the cando touch screen driver, so won't run.

Michael, please don't ignore this request.
