You can buy 16GB for the same price and only put three sticks in. You have one left over as backup or for another machine. Or buy another two sticks and then you have two tripple-channel sets.

Me. I was shitfaced and got on my very high horsey *neighghghghgh!* Still, for pure triple channel, it's actually not a bad buy. But, as you say, just buy the dual/quad stuff and have yourself a spare.
I can concur. I chose vengeance as memory for my ivy bridge build, dual channel though. It was only euros more expensive than the cheapest bulk ram offered by the store.
No problems, though i have not been overclocking yet.
