  • Does AIGLX work on IGPs?

    Hello,
I've a Radeon Xpress 1150 IGP on my Dell Inspiron 1501, I'm running Fedora 8 x86_64 with the latest AMD driver from livna (8.01).
amdcccle tells me it's using DRI, but OpenGL version is stuck to 1.5... so no AIGLX!

Also, many opengl apps crash, even quite simple ones as ppracer.

Oh and suspend hangs the laptop.

you are not using xgl, are you?

Are you sure you installed all the rpms
your control center shows 1.0 when it should be 1.8
and i think the kernel module is not loading

      try lsmod | grep fglrx

        No, I'm not using Xgl.

I think I've all the rpms I need:
        Code:
        [root@dario-laptop ~]# rpm -qa | grep fglrx
        xorg-x11-drv-fglrx-libs-8.452.1-3.8.01.lvn8
        xorg-x11-drv-fglrx-libs-8.452.1-3.8.01.lvn8
        kmod-fglrx-8.452.1-1.8.01.lvn8
        xorg-x11-drv-fglrx-8.452.1-3.8.01.lvn8
        kmod-fglrx-2.6.23.14-107.fc8-8.452.1-1.8.01.lvn8
And the fglrx module is loaded:
        Code:
        [root@dario-laptop ~]# lsmod | grep fglrx
        fglrx 1715804 18
        Any hint?

Hey. I'm curious why do you relate opengl 2.0 with AIGLX.

I have OpenGL 1.4, with a card that only supports 1.2, andI have AIGLX working.

Well I wasn't sure if the 2 things were related, but I thought it could have been the reason for the compiz-not-starting symptom. I was wrong in the end.
Anyway, I see this in my X log:
            Code:

fglrx does not actually support AIGLX on X server 1.4.0. In fact, numerous people on http://forum.compiz-fusion.org also report the same symptoms when using fglrx with the X server 1.3.0 package that Fedora 8 uses, leading me to believe that the F8 X server is not truly 1.3.0. Most have downgraded to the Fedora 7 X server package to get it working. You might want to give that a shot.
