  • Trinity APU

    Hi,

I build a PC for the parents of my girlfriend with an AMD A4-5300. Knowing that Trinity uses N.Islands graphics, I thought oss-support would be pretty good.
So I installed ubuntu 12.04 (elementary os), updated mesa to 9.1-git with this ppa and installaed kernel 3.5
But still firefox kind of lags when scrolling, using the overlay-scrollbars is slow and the whole desktop does not feel as snappy as i am used to from my radeon 4650.
Also sometimes the screen flickers black for half a second (for example every time i open up totem).
Has anyone here experience with a Trinity APU?

    thx

I just reinstalled Fedora 18 on my notebook with dedicated card.
    After fresh install:
    1. set power profile to low (because of the fans) -> totally laggy Gnome3
    2. added radeon.pcie_gen2=1 to the kernel commandline -> no lags with Gnome3

    Code:
    default engine clock: 680000 kHz
    current engine clock: 99990 kHz
    default memory clock: 900000 kHz
    current memory clock: 150000 kHz
    voltage: 900 mV
