  • Comparing different distros?

I've been a long time reader, and let me first say that I appreciate all the work that has gone into the open benchmarking suite. It has made it very easy to compare performance across different machines, and software. I've recently became interested in trying out gentoo. I've been primarily an Ubuntu user for ~ 5 years, and I've always wanted some sort of build system that compiles everything on the local machine, rather than downloading the precompiled binaries from the repos. If there is time for it, would it be possible to run a test comparing the top distros in their most recent release? Ubuntu gets quite a bit of covereage here, but the others, not so much. A nice outline of the current performance of say Ubuntu/Debian, OpenSUSE, Arch, Fedora, Slackware, Gentoo, and (?)FreeBSD would make for a killer article, albeit very time consuming. Thanks for the hard work!
