Phoronix: Gallium3D LLVMpipe On Mesa 9.0

LLVMpipe is gaining traction on the Linux desktop as means of being the default software-accelerated OpenGL fallback. The open-source LLVMpipe driver is even being used for the Unity desktop and GNOME Shell fallback by some distributions when no GPU driver is available (although KDE doesn't plan to take the LLVMpipe route). In this article are benchmarks showing the Gallium3D LLVMpipe performance if attempting to run OpenGL games on this driver running atop a modern CPU.

Is the LLVM pipe actually using the AVX and SSE4 instructions ? Is it gaining anything substantial from these ?
Also, whats the CPU usage during these tests ? i assume it will be 100%, but has anyone checked.

And now how about using a CPU that is more in line with what most people will actually be using? Or better yet, a range of CPUs from ULVs, Atoms, etc up to more powerful options. And, how about comparing to previous Mesa versions or GPUs because just looking at this it's impossibile to know if these numbers are good, bad or normal.

        Other platforms

And what about comparing against other platform's software rendering engines like the one on Windows 7?
