        amd linux: if you want a driver for you card... you better code it yourself.


        I wish someone would the same EXA thing for the first generation radeon's, you wouldn't be forced to deal with such shitty perfomance.

          Ok, I bite... :/

          What's wrong with your 2D performance?
          EXA is supported on the first generation radeon ASICs.
          I'm using the open driver with a HD 4850 and 2D is really good.

          Saying that, I don't use one of those "shiny" compositors (plain "awesome WM").
          Not sure if using one has a major negative impact on 2D performance.
