I guess those 1000 have already been informed, so the question is, open beta?

      Complaints

I hope experienced testers will be beta testers and not random lusers.

People will probably complain about performance being slower than Windows.
Initially there will be bugs to iron out over time...

I would like to test it as well. Hopefully it works with Debian as well, i do not like to install U just for a newer libc6.

For those using Ubuntu 12.04, please update your system to get Unity 5.16.

My test system is Core i7 2600K with GeForce GTX 580 so it should be ideal in terms of supported hardware.

Ohh happy day!!!! Oh happy day!
You might want to read the T&C first. There could well be an NDA of some description.

Could be. I hope they share a bit more on what the internal beta really is. Might aswell just be "Valve Linux Team" only.

I wonder what's keeping them from doing a public beta after the internal one...

Same here for a Radeon HD 4850 and MESA 8.0.x.
I'd be perfectly fine if it performs similarly well as the recent L4D2 video on an intel 4000 (?).
                    Alone, I doubt it...

I'm guessing Phoronix along with a few other big name sites will get an invite, I will laugh if Phoronix doesn't get one but i'm sure he will.
