    is it often claimed that windows has a certain advantage because of its legacy backwards compatiblity. you can run old apps on a new OS. but is that really that wise in this day and age. are you really gonna put a vista driver on a 7 machine, just because they have the same architecture. moreover you want to use apps that the developer doesn't abandon and keeps updating. the whole thing is hit or miss. because the other day I was trying to run quickbooks 2004 or vista and it didn't work. that's a small difference of 2-3 years.
    also wouldn't that result in a huge bloat. would most enterprises sacrifice performance for the choice of being able to run legacy-ware? your thoughts.
