  • AMD Catalyst 8.443.1 & 1280x768 Widescreen Kubuntu

Hi there, I recently manually upgraded to fglrx 4.443.1 so I could use AIGLX with compiz-fusion (which is working great), but my laptop is a 1280x768 widescreen, and the Display Settings part of the Catalyst Control Center won't let me select that as a resolution--it's stuck at 1024x768. It lets me set my "digital display" to 1280x768, and I'm assuming it's getting that from xorg.conf, but I don't know where this 1024x768 setting is coming from, nor how to change it. If I select "Scale image", it just distends my 1024x768 display to fit 1280 wide.

By the way, this is my xorg.conf:

    Code:
    Section "ServerLayout"
    	Identifier "Default Layout"
    	Screen 0 "aticonfig-Screen[0]" 0 0
    	InputDevice "Generic Keyboard"
    	InputDevice "Configured Mouse"
    	InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad"
    	Option "AIGLX" "on"
    EndSection

    Section "Files"
    EndSection

    Section "Module"
    	Load "glx"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    	Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
    	Driver "kbd"
    	Option "CoreKeyboard"
    	Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
    	Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
    	Option "XkbLayout" "us"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    	Identifier "Configured Mouse"
    	Driver "mouse"
    	Option "CorePointer"
    	Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    	Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
    	Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    	Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
    EndSection

    Section "InputDevice"
    	Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
    	Driver "synaptics"
    	Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
    	Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    	Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
    	Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "0"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier "aticonfig-Monitor[0]"
    	Option "VendorName" "ATI Proprietary Driver"
    	Option "ModelName" "Generic Autodetecting Monitor"
    	Option "DPMS" "true"
    EndSection

    Section "Device"
    	Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
    	Driver "fglrx"
    	Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
    	Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
    	Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmaps"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    	Identifier "aticonfig-Screen[0]"
    	Device "aticonfig-Device[0]"
    	Monitor "aticonfig-Monitor[0]"
    	DefaultDepth 24
    	SubSection "Display"
    		Viewport 0 0
    		Depth 24
    		Modes "1280x768"
    	EndSubSection
    EndSection
So, can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!

It's a bug on the latest driver release. My lappy also has a 1280x768 native resolution, but the driver only lets me set 1024x768. Either wait for the next release or rollback to the 7.11 drivers which also support AIGLX.
