  • The 7.12 Resolution Problem.

So, who's figured out how to get around it?

    1440x900 Inspiron 6400 w/Radeon X1400. I'm stuck in 1280x720 with 7.12 (though it suspends! by geez)

Can you add the resolution 1440x900 to the list of modes for that monitor manually? and did you check the amdcccle to see if it'd have that mode in it?

Got the same problem here. It seems to be a bug in combination with widescreen resolutions.
(TFT was connected with DVI-D,for testing with VGA, X1250 IGP)

ATI/AMD is only talking about 1680x1050 but I figured out, that there is a bug with all WS-resolutions:
Connecting a display device that supports 1680x1050 to a system running Linux may result in a maximum display resolution of 1280x1024 only being available

        Hi,

I'm also affected with my ThinkPad R52. I can't run the native resolution at 1400x1050.
        So, it's not only a wide-screen issue.

        Best regards,
        Whoopie

The real bug is that all VESA modes - or better modes which have no preset in Xorg directly are not supported. At least in too many cases EDID infos are not used. Don't know in which cases it works, Michael stated his monitor does.
