its easy to blame the people "And I don't see enough donations coming in for it to be worthwhile to add support to the Spring engine myself." but you never say how much exactly do you need.

then maybe the Spring-engine fans stand up for there reputation!
I don't know for sure since as far as I know there's no support for what I need within the Spring Engine itself and I've never worked on the Spring Engine previously so I don't know how difficult it would be to make the necessary engine changes. The commercial cost for creating a test profile is usually about 200$ USD, but if needing to do all of the engine work that would be much more ($1k+).

Hell, I'd pitch in 20 bucks for that. 0AD needs more love.

At lowest/low settings, the engine doesn't behave too differently from ioQuake3 (although with much more model detail.) I usually play at medium settings, because my 2010 Thinkpad T510 with nVidia graphics cannot get a solid 60 FPS at high or highest settings.

And by the way, this is awesome news.
Depends on the game... For the games that can actually bang the GPU well there's usually PTS test profile options prompt to the user of like low/med/high/ultimate. Or for the quake3-era games it's using a standardized configuration that would match to the high/ultimate area.

I thought you were looking for games, not completed demos. Try asking http://www.thedarkmod.com/main/ or http://sourceforge.net/projects/stuntrally/ if they would add a demo.

Yes, and 0AD needs more publicity. It's a promising project.

What about, instead, adding an FPS counter to mesa, that gives the time elapsed and prints the total frames painted? There is already LIBGL_SHOW_FPS=1, it should be easy to add that. Then you could benchmark every game that can use a reproducible demo and quit automatically (obliously only under mesa). See the current implementation: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mes...ri2_glx.c#n670

The problem that it's Mesa-only.... I like anything (as do most of the customers) in PTS to be near-universal. Though anyone else is free to create their own Mesa-powered test profiles and upload them to their own account on OpenBenchmarking.org to share them with the community, just as the Wine guys do, etc.

                    yes please.
I?m sure you get 1000 dollar for spring and 1000 dollar for 0AD.
after that you do have more REAL games for your benchmark articles.

                    just do it!
That's in the domain of the devs of those games.

Agreed. Michael does not want to step on the toes of the developers. Its best for the developers to solicit donations for their respective games.
