mythtv backend / file server
Hey everyone, finally signed up after being a troll for a bit.
I'm building a new network and wanted to get feedback / opinions on best implementations and the hardware for the mythtv backend / file server. I'll update this thread as everything progresses
My linux experience / level would prob be a 3-5 out of 10 (maybe higher depending on how you scale). I know how to compile from source, use or install apt get or yum, and the basics. part of the reason for building this network is to challenge myself and learn so if something is higher than my level thats fine.
here are the specs, let me know if there are any changes / recommendations you have -
case: LIAN LI PC-A71B
motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P Rev 2.0
cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz
ram: Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB(2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
hd: WD Caviar WD7500AAKS 750GB
burners:2 * dual layer dvd
psu: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W
add on cards:
Rosewill PCI-Express Gigabit
HauppaugeWinTV-PVR 500
Let me know if this is overkill, also if you know of any good pci / pci express hd tuners - because the pvrs are highly recommended, but not hd
