  • nvidia driver in efi mode

i'm booting linux mint in a efi mode and it loads a scrambled video mode. im trying to manipulate the drivers to get a working mode, but i get nothing. is there like a vesa mode for efi? something that always works? i think when you put the grub option video=efifb it overrides when x.org kicks in. what are the available x.org drivers for nvidia in efi mode?

How about booting with binary ones?

i figured it out. you have to turn off mode setting. now x won't recognize my display with the error message "can't open display". i tried manually setting resolutions through xrandr, the same error.

ok I have to bite the bullet and figure out how to fix this in KMS. I really don't want to use the properitary drivers because that brings another set of issues. first I have to figure out why it's doing that. does Nouveau have a forum or something. their wiki does not help me to pinpoint the problem
