  • How is the performance of Virtualbox running Windows 7?

    Hello all,

I am really interested in running a Linux distribution full time. Since not all of my programs run under Wine well not yet anyways. I will be running Virtualbox. I am just hesitant that it will be laggy and my wife will tell me to put Windows back on. I'm hoping that's not the case.

Here are the specifications to my desktop computer:

Athlon II X2 245 processor running at 2.90 Ghz with 8 gigs of ram. Running a regular hard drive at 7200 rpm. I have a integrated video card which is ATI Radeon HD 4200.

I'm just so sick of Windows slowing down and all the viruses, malware etc. I hope someone here can help.

    Thank you.

The real need for w7 are games with dx10+ support to use all features of a new gfx card. Thats definitely not needed for a vm, so you can get more speed using xp instead in a vm. With installed addons it works usualy good and nice integrated, just like a normal app.
