  • Best Compiz installation manual for Catalyst 7.11

    Hi,

Thanks to Kano's excellent installation script I managed to get Catalyst 7.11 installed. Very handy!

However, I would also like to try out Compiz (Fusion). Having had some previous bad experiences I am a bit worried I might again ruin my new shiny installation.

So, what Compiz installation instruction would you recommend for a system with Catalyst 7.11?

Even if I happen to run 64-bit Debian Sid, other people may like to see links to their favorite distro, whether 32-bit or 64-bit.

    Thanks for any help!

You would have to downgrade to Xserver 1.3 because 1.4 is not fully supported - especially no AIGLX working.

I already have 1.3 on "hold".

      EDIT:

After installing the various Compiz components in Debian Sid repositories with aptitude, using "compiz --replace" I recieved an error: GLX_texture_from_pixmap is missing" or something to that effect. Is it it solvable today?

      EDIT_2

As I need a running machine I went back, using "metacity --replace"

In case it might help, here is my /var/log/Xorg.0.log
