  • Anyone tried 7.11 with Fire GL card?

    Hey there,

after the sad experience with a Mobility Fire GL T2, I put the whole ati-proprietary thing on the hold.

Considering ati ignored worksation cards again, it was not the worst idea, I think.

So here's the question. Did anyone try the new driver together with a Fire GL card, especially the Mobility Fire GL T2?

Did it work? Or do You have to apply hacks, just as it was was 8.42?

    Thanks,

    Llogi

Do you use a Debian based distro?

      Yes I am. I'm using Kubuntu 7.10.

It is not so, that I didn't try 8.42. But the "Hardware not supported"-Icon on the left bottom and the unbelievable slow system with AIGLX made me switch to god old 8.37 and XGL again.

Just make a backup of /etc/ati/control and put that back after you installed the unsupported driver.

Hum, there is no /etc/ati/control, only a /etc/ati/amdpcsdb

edit: I'm going to install the 8.37 manually, probably then I'll get the control-file.

The file is in the 8.40.4 package. But you find it as link in this thread:

Technical support and discussion of the open-source AMD Radeon graphics drivers.
