I've been using Intel NICs in server builds, but I'd like to try out some other options. It looks like the only other brand name choices are:
IBM
Broadcom
Dell
HP
I've used Dell and HP NICs, in Dell and HP branded servers, respectively, but I've never compared them with other NICs in the same machine, so it's a little hard to draw a good comparison.
Can anybody recommend a reliable and fast Gigabit NIC with out-of-the-box support for Linux? I'm only interested in 2 x RJ45 and 4 x RJ45 PCI-e cards, and maybe even Fibre Channel or Infiniband cards if anybody has actual experience with them in Linux.
Thanks
