  • Lenovo ThinkPad T60

The Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad T60 arrived this morning . It contains an Intel Core Duo, 15.0" FlexView screen. 1GB of DDR2-667, ATI Radeon X1400 128MB, 80GB SATA drive, and all of the other goodies. Right now I am in the process of throwing Linux on here, and will report on its performance and compatibility shortly -- also have a few articles planned for the near future.

Anyhow, below are a few quick shots of the Lenovo ThinkPad T60, as well as some comparison views between the T60 (on top), and the Lenovo R52 15". It's interesting to see the similar height between the R and T series, where in the past the T definitely had the light advantage. More information to come soon.

Very nice man. I am thinking my next laptop will probably be a Lenovo.

To be honest, I have never heard of the X1400 card. I look forward to some performance reports!

The Lenovo T60 is quite attractive to say the least. It's been running great. Only things that hadn't worked out of the box was Wifi and sound, which I got working with manual configurations. I also had to rebuild the FC5 ISOs due to the 2.6.15 kernel not liking the T60 and udev (2.6.17 is working GREAT). I should have up some performance results within the next few days.

Good to hear. I wonder what changed in between those kernels that made a difference in that laptop?

Out of curiosity, what driver did you use for your wifi? Or what's it listed as under the /dev?

Just read your preview. It went well with my morning coffee

Looks like a sharp notebook. The X1300 delivered better performance than I expected to be honest, but it's too bad it didn't have a tad more juice for the likes of D3 and QIV. Compared to the M 750 though, the differences are clear with the synthetics and real world tests.

One question I have is... did both notebooks cost the same (or in the same area) when you bought them?

Having 2GB would be a sweet deal though. I am still using only 256MB * 2 in my 2.8GHz Inspiron.

Both cost approximately the same at their time of purchase through the standard retail channels, though, the R52 and T60 were bought through the Employee Purchase Program. The 2GB of RAM and 16MB cache HDD were added to the R52 at a later point.

The T60 certainly is shaping up to be a nice notebook, and works great with Linux. More information and results will come later.

I got to play with my friends Inspiron 6400 yesterday, which using the T2400 and I have to say I am impressed so far. I ran a quick simple Windows benchmarks, and CPU wise, they blew my 40% overclocked AMD out of the water.

I almost want to get one.. haha.
