ubuntu make my quadro slow

on my Ubuntu 11.10 (with or without metacity, unity2D,...) ,
HD video with VLC are not fluid.

On Fedora 16 VErne, using Gnome Shell (and the fancy effects)
HD video with VLC are quite GOOD !
