Our code now use real software emulation(!) of the VBI line. So we need to figure out what the data format is that the registers accept

Hopefully. Our first priority is getting 3D and new chip info out, but once that is in place, we'll be going over the old stuff.

Is the old stuff available from the x.org servers?

Well, there's the driver source code, but no documentation has been publicly released yet for the older chips.

I'm now reading the M76 specs, what chip is attached to that?

From what I can see, emulation is possible. I did not yet find any VBI inserting register.

The m76 is a chip. It's an r600 mobility chip.

I haven't looked into the vbi regs (or if they still exist) in the newer chips.

M76 is also known as Radeon Mobility HD2600

I guess the thing that will make us all happy is getting a variable overscan parameter that will go beyond specifications. My software will need this region (with framebuffer) for inserting. But if anyone can take a quick peak in the published code for any VBI/TTX stuff, please keep me informed.
