With the older ATI drivers, I used to see something being allocated in /dev/shm whenever I ran an OpenGL program. However, despite the release notes for 8.42.3 saying that POSIX shared memory is still needed, I cannot see anything in /dev/shm when I run celestia with OpenGL 2.0 shaders enabled and the 8.42.3 driver loaded. And I have checked celestia's /proc/<pid>/fd directory to make sure, too.
So are the release notes wrong? Or is my driver simply not working correctly? Does anyone know precisely what fglrx uses/used POSIX shared memory for, anyway?
