Unfortunately I'm having serious problems with my X200M/1100M.

The driver only works in 2D. 3D is not working at all, every app that tries to use it will give: Bus error. When I activate AIGLX the X-server will crash, leaving my computer totally unusable: No SysRq, nothing.

Am I doing something wrong or is there some kind of bug in the kernel module? I'm running OpenSUSE 10.3 on a customly compiled 2.6.22.5-kernel.

    My xorg.conf:

    • I'm having the exact same error as c0un7d0wn. I'm using Gutsy with the default compiz package (0.6 I think), on a laptop. I have yet to find way to fix it.

      This is strange.

      serkan@zoidberg ~ $ fglrxinfo
      display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
      OpenGL version string: 2.0.6958 Release

      serkan@zoidberg ~ $ glxinfo | grep ATI
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

      serkan@zoidberg ~ $ glxinfo | grep GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
      GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_import_context, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap,
      GLX_SGIX_visual_select_group, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap

AIGLX is enabled. Composite is enabled. 3d is working. I get ~5000 on glxgears and ~1000 fgl_glrx and yet:

      serkan@zoidberg ~ $ compiz --indirect-rendering --replace gconf
compiz (core) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz (core) - Error: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz (core) - Fatal: No manageable screens found on display :0.0

compiz does not work. This is on amd64 gentoo. Does anybody have any ideas?

after much debugging and researching I got it to segfault when I export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 (<--- hot tip for people right here)

now I'm running metacity with xcompmgr and transset instead. 1920x1080 and cairo-clock, googlearth and glxgears running at 1600fps (double what I had with 8.40)

well.. maybe I'll build compiz 0.6.2 one of these days, or I just might wait until my MV 5200 is officially supported in 8.43 instead of that ugly pci-hack (might be blamed as well).

        almost pleased so far
xcompmgr is working but extremely slow when moving windows around with metacity.

        • This driver doesn't work for me. As soon as I start X the screen goes black followed by a 'no signal'-message of my monitor. Same with TV-out. Xorg.0.log shows no errors. This sucks.

Debian sid, 2.6.22, Xorg 7.3, Radeon X1800 XT

It's a sandbox bug. Try with:

            Code:
            FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge -pv ati-drivers
but i just tried to do the same and patchset is not valid for this new driver. Finally I install it using the ATI installer.

              • You should be able to overwrite 8.41 with 8.42.

Run: aticonfig --initial as root to configure the xorg.conf.
                Simply thanks

                  • I have Ubuntu Gutsy(7.10) 32bit with the propriety ati driver version 8.40.4, so do I need to uninstall that prior to installing the new one? If so, how would I do it? (btw, I used the easy method of running the .run file at the command-line)
