    Eh, if hammerfight is an example, it's still got a long way to go.
    Hammerfight is impossible to play on my 2.1 GHZ dual core AMD w/ 4gigs of ram and an nvidia 8600gt... Ticks along at like 4 - 14 FPS.
    Seriously unplayable. And it's just a 2-D game.

      really don't blame the game buy a new computer.
      That's too much sarcasm for a nerdy place like here... :P

      Really... What's wrong with today's software? It eats hardware resources like crazy...

        Your system exceeds the minimum system requirements. So you don't need a new PC:

        System requirements:
        CPU: 2.0 GHz (x86 compatible)
        RAM: 256 MB
        GPU: OpenGL-compatible with 64 MB VRAM

        Maybe you're using an open source driver (they're very slow). That would be the most probable cause for the performance issues.

          Take a look here:

          Maybe opening
          ~/.local/share/Hammerfight/Config.ini and changing the line:
          CORE_USE_SLEEP=true
          to
          CORE_USE_SLEEP=false
          will help you.

              No. For worst ever, you need a below-minimum system.

              The game in question is not demanding. It's not even real 3D.

                I'm looking in to that bug report conf file change, but for the record I get fine frame rates at relatively high settings using 1680x1050 or whatever resolution is supported for cogs and steelstorm and I use nvidia's binary driver.

                Update: that conf file change worked wonders.

                I admit my hardware is dated, but I don't think there's any excuse for it not playing humble bundle type games.
