Measuring power of mobile devices

Hi Michael, I was thinking of picking up a Watts Up thanks to your article, with the hope of using it to monitor the power usage of my tablet (Viewsonic G Tablet w/Cyanogen Mod). How exactly do you monitor the battery life, and what kind of details does it give?
