glxgears gives me:
31611 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6322.153 FPS
34324 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6864.653 FPS
34322 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6864.232 FPS
34328 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6865.402 FPS
34328 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6865.449 FPS
fgl_glxgears gives me:
9273 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1854.600 FPS
9953 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1990.600 FPS
9955 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1991.000 FPS
9947 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1989.400 FPS
9959 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1991.800 FPS
9953 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1990.600 FPS
For this test however, instead of seeing a cube with gears inside, I see just a white cube. On my x800xl I see gears inside the cube.

For what it's worth. I logged back into Opensuse 10.3. I have the 8.41.7 driver installed. I was experiencing choppiness with my HD2600XT. I shutdown my computer put in my x800xl, logged into Opensuse 10.3, and it was smooth as a baby's behind with the 8.41.7 driver installed.
My HD2600XT works perfectly in XP and Vista though, so don't think it could be the card.

Hi! I actually just got an HD2600XT and got 3D to work. I used that HOWTO to do so. http://en.opensuse.org/ATI_Driver_HOWTO
Make sure you follow the hard way. Print it out before because you'll have to go in init #3 mode (text based). Make sure libdrm is version 2.3, make sure you prepare the kernel following the steps. And it may not hurt to install Xorg 7.2. I did it and it works. 3D is enabled and no choppiness when draggin the windows.
Hope this helps!!
