    Phoronix: ALSA Sound Driver 1.0.15-rc1 Released

    The news is a bit late, but ALSA (the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) is out with its first release candidate in the 1.0.15 series. Since the release of ALSA 1.0.14, this new sound driver release introduces a great deal of changes.

    Hmm... It would be nice to see an article about the Razr card now that it may have at least some support under Linux. What I'd be interested on is:
    • Features support (optical I/O, SPDIF I/O, Digital, Analog).
    • Hardware Mixing? (`cat /proc/asound/pcm`**)
    • Sound quality.
    • Recording quality (some cards even deform the wave form when recording... *looks in anger at his VIA VT82378 onboard hardware-mixing-capable chip*)
    • OpenAL support, will the drivers feature a hardware renderer for OAL?


    **This is the output from that on my system, yes I have two cards, one Live! Emu10k1, one VIA:

    The bold text is what I'm interested on, particularly for apps such as TeamSpeak, which in its version 2 we're stuck with OSS jamming the capture, and no dmix possible support.

    For such an old card, like the Live! you gotta love its 32 hardware streams capability.

        Interesting, indeed... Seems this card is good or the "creator", features quite a bit of input channels
