    Phoronix: Name That ATI 8.40 Linux Driver

    With a security vulnerability in ATI's Catalyst driver installer for Microsoft Windows Vista being exposed (dubbed the "purple pill"), engineers have been scurrying to address this problem. The Inquirer is reporting that the patched driver will be released tomorrow (Monday) and that it will be Catalyst 7.8 that gets released.

    August 13, 2007: fglrx 8.40 releases: "buggy but AIGLX SUPPORT OMFG!11 driver".

    August 14, 2007:

    "Compiz Fusion improves its performance by changing the rendering of the windows. This new feature that is currently avaible in git will need GL_texture_from_hell support from your software driver."
