I am user fo KDE from the first version and I remember when start developing Koffice too and as you wrote it is still not usable which you cannot say the same for OO or LibreOffice. I Use at work Mac OS X and at home FreeBSD with KDE and OO and many times I prepare presentations and Word compatible documents at home and use them at work or vice versa. Cand I do the same with Koffice? IMO the answer is NO. And IMO should be better that is Krita standalone application.
Good luck.
