  • Another HDMI thread

I've only just got around to trying audio over HDMI, and I can't seem to get it to work. When I use mplayer, it plays without error, but no sound comes out:

    mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=2.3 somefile.avi

Keep in mind that I have two ATI cards, so the first HDMI device is 1.3, the second one is 2.3. The audio doesn't work with just one device either.

"aplay -l" lists the devices just fine. Alsamixer shows an S/PDIF channel for each of them, and it is not muted.

The Intel HD support for ATI cards is built into the kernel.

I'm running vanilla 2.6.36, libdrm, mesa and xf86-video-ati are from git, all head branch. I'm using KMS.

I have options "HDMI" and "Audio" set in the device section of xorg.conf.

    What am I missing?

    Could you name your cards?

Of course. I forgot the most important thing.

HD4550 (RV710) is the one connected to the TV via HDMI. The other one is a 4350, so the same thing.
