        I'm thinking of installing a newer kernel to try out r600 too, with my radeon 5850. Before i do that i'd like to know if Compiz works moer or less fully with the newest version in xorg-edgers (I got Ubuntu 10.10)?

          S3TC work has begun in r600g, but doesn't work yet.

          Set R600_ENABLE_S3TC=1 and the S3TC extensions appear, but my 2.6.36.2 kernel is rejecting it:

          Code:
          radeon 0000:02:00.0: r600_check_texture_resource:1111 texture invalid format 50
          [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
          radeon 0000:02:00.0: r600_check_texture_resource:1111 texture invalid format 50
          [drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !

            Good to know, thanks!

            But all Doom3-based games have been borked for me ever since Colour Tiling was introduced.

              Can't wait

              It's fantastic to see this coming along. I'm really excited to play some of my commercial games with wine and r600g!

              Great work, devs.

                Wine[EVE-Online] : Playable but all texture are missing (S3TC) (The overview and all windows+modules are working);

                  There are probably other reasons why WoW and r600g don't play together, but supporting S3TC OpenGL extensions is a quantifiable requirement.
                  I've gotten WoW to run, but it's not playable yet.
                  Setting it to OpenGL I can get it to run for a short period of time before wine crashes. It lasts longer on DirectX but there is a ton of visual corruption. I don't think it's caused by S3TC though...

                      Is there anyone can tell me what the HoN experience is like with the current r600g?
