  • video-cpu-usage test running correctly?

I'm not sure that the video-cpu-usage test is running correctly. I manually downloaded the video from another source, placed it in the download-cache folder, and the test seemed to install correctly after that. however, when i run the test the video never displays. and when the results are viewed on the Global website, all of the graphs are funky.

see any in the list http://global.phoronix-test-suite.co...ideo-cpu-usage to see what I mean.

The local saved graphs appear to show the cpu usage correctly but I'm not seeing any difference between embedded and discrete graphics so i'm not even sure if the video playback is being tested.

    any thoughts?

What video API did you select during the video-cpu-usage test? They should all work fine assuming your graphics driver/hardware supports the given API.

If no video is shown on the screen, it's not running. This likely happens if you chose a video API unsupported by the system.

Regarding them on Phoronix Global, yes that's known as Phoronix Global is using an older version of pts_Graph not compliant with the line graph specification used by such test profiles. WIth OpenBenchmarking.org on PTS3, however, this is already inherently resolved.

I selected "all" for the test run since i'm not really familiar with which one is "recommended" or "best" for video output

        What's your system setup? phoronix-test-suite system-info

Normally, GL2 or X-Video is at least supported if you have some form of a decent driver installed.

            What is the output of:

            phoronix-test-suite debug-run video-cpu-usage

debug-run should print out more information so you know if there was an MPlayer build problem. Although on Ubuntu the MPlayer test profile should build cleanly as I've done it there many times.

it seems odd to me that it sits at the ./video-cpu-usage command for 10 minutes or so, then spits out the mplayer info real quick.

                Code:
                Video: no video
                Starting playback...
                A: 596.3 (09:56.2) of 596.5 (09:56.4) 2.1%
It looks like the video can't be found.... So either the video file is not there or there is some bug going on with MPlayer.
