  • Fedora 14

I installed Fedora 14 yesterday. It has driver xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.13.1-0.3.20100705git37b348059.fc14.x86_64. I interpret that to be 4 month old software.

While I had Fedora 13, not a single update for xorg-x11-drv-ati was issued after the initial release last May.

I read in this forum about all the great recent advances in the radeon driver (e.g. Evergreen support), but it seems they are not working their way efficiently into the Fedora distribution.

yeah the mesa-dri-driver 7.9 which is in Fedora 14 is probably a bit broken. You can use the mesa-dri-drivers 7.10 from the rawhide repo instead.

    Code:
    yum update --enablerepo=rawhide mesa-dri-drivers mesa-LibGL mesa-libGLU

      Hi all!

And how did it work out using the rawhide mesa packages?

I use a Radeon HD 4870 on Fedora 14 with the xorg-ati drivers!
Are there any tweaks I could apply to my xorg.conf to increase performance?

      Thx

It's working OK for me with rawhide. I think it's better at least, but not great. (I have a HD 4670). I am using the ability to scroll in Google Images as one test.
