omfg mozilla is changin acceleration settings all the time.
firs of all it was like described here:
"To turn on Direct2D: Go in to about:config and set mozilla.widget.render-mode to 6, and gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled to true."
    http://www.bit-tech.net/news/bits/20...des-direct2d/1

now you have to activate layers too
    "layers.accelerate-all" true
im gonna make further tests now.

btw i figured out how to run fullscreen opengl apps with fglrx and switch workspaces without errors. just run the opengl app as root.
if anyone knows a better solution pls post it.

    but its strange.
ie9 testdrive fishtank does not get as much speed as before(almost as slow as without layers enabled)but http://www.tapper-ware.net/stable/we...est.transform/ does run as fast as with direct2d with gallium.

Direct2D is a windows-only API, so it's not possible to use that in Linux. The equivalent API is XRender, which I can't remember if that's supported in FF yet or not. The layers support will work (using OpenGL vs Direct3D) and I'm guessing that's what is giving you any speedups you're seeing.

The Direct2D acceleration API in fglrx is completely different from the Windows API, and it's used internally only (to increase the speed of XRender).
