    ^^ That's fine with me, as I've played through both games (plus the expansion packs for both) on Linux, and had a blast.

    I'll have to dig out Doom 3 one of these days again...

      Well, I'm hoping for 64bit compatibility!
      Doom 3, Quake 4, etc. all lack 64bit library compatibility.
      I run a non-mulilib system and hate when a game doesn't offer that accessibility.
      UT2k4 was able to do it and I'm not sure why many modern indy games fail to do so.

        I just tried Quake II for the first time thanks to the Yamagi Quake II project. It runs damn well on the r300 Gallium drivers, even on my godaweful IGP. I really love ID for releasing their source, even if they don't yet support Linux on launch day for new titles.

          John Carmack mentioned in this year's Quakecon that he is interested in doing some Linux stuff as it is his desktop OS.
